The placement is in front because it wont disturb the stream as much and will get the temperature from the tip to all the back as it is at the same place. Ok, i have herd some conflicting info on egt placement, i have heard from a very well informed builder that the egt for a turbo should never be placed in the exaust manifold.

Remember the muffler chamber is very narrow there, there should be the same. I' ve done a search on where to put the egt probe or sensor. We taped the block off plate and got a longer probe, havent had any issues and it seems very accurate.
