Td5 Crank Sensor Testing. Need some help please guys one of my customers td5 disco cut out whilst driving has been in to various garages localy and apart from a crank sensor nothing has been changed. Wondering if you can give me some help, i have a discovery 2 td5 2003 which is causing me a bit of grief, it cut out when coming up a hill and would not start.

The values expected from a good ckp sensor are as follows: 2 to 3 volts with engine cranking. Its a w reg defender td5 that drove fine this morning but was then parked up for a few hours and now cranks but wont start.

If not then as johnlad says above, it sounds like a crank sensor fault. Below 228 it receives diagnostic pulses only. No faults in the ecu apart from sensors being disconnected.

My 90 td5 does the same when it gets wet, iether the injector harness or the crank sensor, or with me the three plugs on the fire wall in front of the driver in the engine bay, they shale loose or get wet. I made sure the connector was fully seated, nuts tight and even installed the cover before testing.
